Passport
Your original passport with a validity of at least 6 months after the expiry date of your visa.
It is also important that your passport contains at least 2 empty visa pages that are opposite each other.
Photograph
One digital photograph, which meets the following conditions:
- The photo is less than 3 months old
- Background is white or light gray in color
- Dimensions are 3.5 x 4.5 cm
- No damages to the passport photo
- Passport photo is not stapled to the visa application form (this can be attached with a paper clip)
- Person in the photo is looking straight into the camera
- In .PDF or .JPG / .JPEG format
- No glasses are worn in the photo
Signed embassy form
After you have completed the online application form on this website, you will receive an e-mail stating which documents are still needed in your case (you can also check this yourself on this page). You will also find an embassy form in this email. This embassy form has already been filled in digitally, but still has to be printed (note: one-sided!) And signed. This should be done with a black pen.
Validity
Both the tourist visa and the business visa are valid for 30 days, the transfer / transit visa is valid for 48 hours. Read more about the validity here.

An extension request must be submitted to the Visa Section of the Department of Immigration (head office) or must be provided by an Authorized Agent in Sri Lanka.

What is a visa for Sri Lanka?
All travelers with Dutch and Belgian nationality must have a visa to travel in Sri Lanka. If travelers plan to stay in Sri Lanka for business or tourism, less than 30 days, the e-visa, also known as ETA, will suffice. You can easily apply for this e-visa / ETA here.
After the visa / e-visa / ETA has been granted, the traveler must print it out and have it with him when traveling.
What types of visas are available for Sri Lanka?
Sri Lanka has various types of visas. For example, there are:
- Visa on arrival can be obtained upon arrival at Colombo Airport for an amount of $ 40 USD. However, there are long waiting times involved
- E-visas (ETA) can be obtained completely digitally in advance. This is possible up to 90 days before departure. With the electronic visa you can travel in and out of the country twice, within 30 days after first entry. Do you want to travel out of the country and back in again after 30 days? Then you need to apply for a new visa.
- Regular visa can be obtained at the embassy. This visa is intended for travelers who want to stay longer than 90 days or who are not eligible for an electronic visa for any other reason.

Keep in mind that children must also have their own visa. They also need to supply their own file with all necessary documents.

What does a visa for Sri Lanka cost and how long does the procedure take?
The costs for the visa for Sri Lanka are € 12.95 for the tourist e-visa.
There is a surcharge of € 14.50 for the business e-visa.
This includes processing costs, consular costs, transaction costs (with iDeal / bancontact payment) and VAT.
